Used on the 1955-58 British Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition.

This is one of the three tractors of the New Zealand team led by Sir Edmund Hillary, that set up supply depots from the Ross Sea towards the South Pole.

Though it looks unusual, it is hardly modified from the standard TEA20. The extra axle helps support the track, which can be removed for use on firm ground.

The canvas cover doesn't look like it would provide too much protection from polar weather conditions!
